Let us take a moment to reflect on how privileged we are—to have been born into circumstances that allow us to be donors in these campaigns, rather than on the receiving end, relying on such donations just to have something to eat.
On November 21, 2022, the Permanent Brazilian Mission to the United Nations in Switzerland participated in a charity fair in Geneva, where traditional fruits from countries around the world were sold. The proceeds from these sales will be used to support underprivileged children globally.
We at Agrifoods donated the fruits featured at the “Brazilian booth.” Although the Brazilian government kindly offered to reimburse the cost of the fruits, we declined—both for the produce and the logistical expenses. This is because we cannot take full credit: the fruits were also provided through generous contributions from our partners, suppliers, and clients.
It’s a gesture that feels infinitesimal in the face of the immense global issue of child hunger. Yet, I’m personally grateful to have had the opportunity and the means to contribute in some way.
